The Committee is comprised of up to 12 members from the community at large as follows:

a) may include one individual from the community at large who has a background in accessibility for the disabled/mobility impaired.

b) may include one representative from Independent Living Vernon (ILV).

c) may include one youth member, to contribute the perspective of Vernon youth to Committee discussions and recommendations.

The Advisory Planning Committee currently has 9 occupied positions, and quorum is 5 members.

The mandate of the Advisory Planning Committee is to:

a) consider proposed Official Community Plan, Neighbourhood Plans, Rezoning, Agricultural Land  Reserve exclusion and Development Variance Permit applications, in accordance with the current Official Community Plan and provides recommendations to City Council.

b) review and provide their advice on land use matters referred by Council.

c) receive updates on long range planning matters, including neighbourhood plan reviews.

The term length for members is 4 years, with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms.  

The term length for youth members is a maximum of 2 years.
